We’ve tried many different endpin holders and have previously found some similar designs haven’t stayed in place. These offer security and absolute flexibility in positioning.
As cellists we’d say if you want absolute security then a design that tethers to a chair leg is the most secure. But what if the chair or stool you are using has a different support structure than the traditional four legs? Or you want an endpin holder that reflects your individuality?
SmartStop was developed by Sarah West, a Juilliard-trained cellist and teacher. She spent over three years researching the best materials for both the top and the bottom of the SmartStop. Dozens of design changes and trials eventually yielded an amazing backing that is strong, tear-resistant, and sticks to most surfaces.
SmartStops stay put securely on most surfaces including marble, wood, laminate, linoleum, and more. You can move your SmartStop easily when you need to change position.

For cellists, the SmartStop works for all endpins, with rubber tips or sharpened tips. It features an innovative design with multiple ‘holes’ added to the centre of the stop. This means that cellists with sharpened endpins can make adjustments to their position within the stop rather than moving the whole stop.
